SOLAR INITIATIVE

 Solar Photovoltaic
The increasing energy needs and rapidly depleting fossil fuel scenario has rightly shifted the emphasis from conventional energy to non-conversional energy sources. Solar photovoltaic is one such source which converts sunlight into DC electricity instantaneously. Solar Photovoltaic System is the best mean to meet your electricity requirement in an environmental friendly.

The Solar Photovoltaic market continues to boom having sustained growth rates of 30% - 40% per year till 2004-05, but during last financial year the world is likely to boom by 65% and more.
 Solar Photovoltaic and its Advantages
A silicon Solar cell produces DC electricity when exposed to sun light due to "Photovoltaic Effect". A number of such solar cells are interconnected in series and encapsulated to make an SPV MODULE. These modules are when connected in series or parallel and mounted on a support metallic structure to form an SPV PANELS and when two or more SPV Panels are connected in series or parallel to make suitable output as required to a designed power plant is called SPV ARRAY.

The SPV systems are extremely simple to operate and maintain. They have a long operating life with the backing of highly reliable and trouble free performance. These systems are completely noiseless and are unlikely to produce any environmental pollution or ecological imbalance. These energy sources are modular in nature and can be upgraded as and when required. All these advantages make Solar Photovoltaic highly suitable for various applications in developing countries as India.

In remote locations, where grid electricity is not available and it is very much uneconomical and unreliable to think about the other centrally generated electricity and its distribution except SPV Systems. SPV Electricity may turn out to be an ideal solution in these areas. This is due to the fact that the fuel, for the electricity production, i.e. the sunlight, is available at the place of use.

No doubt the future of the Solar Photovoltaic business is bright, even there is tough competition in the existing market where production cost of the SPV system is very high and the paying capacity of our customer in domestic market is low. Till now the Indian market was mostly operated by the Govt. Agencies under subsidy scheme and there was no reliable program of awareness in the market.

The increase of demand of SPV System in the world market since last two years has caused the shortage of Si (a basic raw material) in the international market and hence the hike in the price on the SPV Systems.

As the demand relates to the production, the global manufacturers have planned to increase their capacities. Bridging the gap of the production-demand-cost will take about two more years which may result in boosting the demand in the domestic market thereby increasing the business opportunity.
