Q. What is Kevin Water Purifier?
Kevin RO Water Maker is a purifier system that uses the principle of reverse osmosis to remove 95-99% of all the mineral and chemical contaminants from raw tap water. Wave Kevin RO gives you the quality of bottled water with the convenience of a faucet mounted on your kitchen sink.
Q. How effective is Kevin RO reverse osmosis for improving water quality?
Kevin RO is very effective in reducing a range of home water contaminants. This is possible because the reverse osmosis membrane is comprised of microscopic pores which allow the pressurized water molecules, among the smallest molecules known to man, to pass through contaminants, and even dissolved ions are left behind. Additionally, Kevin RO systems always include a sediment pre-filter that traps fine suspended materials that permanently clog the membrane. Kevin RO systems also include a carbon pre-filter to remove chlorine, along with other contaminants that may damage Kevin RO membranes and affect that taste, color, and odor of the water.
Reverse osmosis is a low-energy process, useful for substantially reducing the complete dissolved mineral content of water. The process is practical in sizes ranging from a few gallons to million of gallons per day.
Q. How does reverse osmosis differ from a water filter?
Ordinary water filters use a screen only particle of dirt sediment from water. Reverse osmosis employs a semi-permeable membrane that removes not only particles but also an extremely high percentage of dissolved contaminants-molecule by molecule from raw tap water. Ordinary filters remove only insoluble impurities also removes soluble impurities like salts, hardness a heavy metals.
Q. What is reverse osmosis?
Reverse Osmosis is the reversal of the natural flow of osmosis. In a water purification system, the goal is not to dilute the salt solution, but to separate the pure water from the salt and other contaminants. When the natural osmotic flow is reversed, water from the salt solution is forced through the membrane in the opposite direction by application of pressure-thus the term REVERSE OSMOSIS. Through this process, we are able to produce pure water by screening out the salts and other contaminants.
Q. What is the purification process of the KEVIN RO water purifier?
1. Sediment - Reduces sediment particles such as dirt and sand down to 5micron or larger size from water and protects R/O membrane or U/F membrane.
2. Anti Scalant - For Descaling.
3. Pre-Carbon - Absorbs harmful organic chemicals such as Chlorine and VOC's pesticides from water. GAC (Granule Activated Carbon) in this filter is acid-rinsed carbon.
4. Kevin RO membrane of 75-80 GPD(CSM* 80) - Eliminates water contaminants such as virus, bacteria, lime, heavy metal, iron and all kinds of inorganic and organic chemicals through its 0.0001micron pore.
5. Post Carbon - Promotes the taste of water and protect growth of secondary bacteria and control PH level of water as nearest as alkali.
6. UF - Eliminates small size of impurities, water borne micro-organism and harmful organic chemicals through its 0.01 micro pore.
7. Bio Minerals - Provides 72 kinds of essential minerals for human body. Bio-mineral filter helps metabolism and keeps body balance.
Q. What contaminants does reverse osmosis remove?
A reverse osmosis system can treat for a variety of contaminants including: Aluminum, Arsenic, Asbestos, Atrazine, Benzene, Chlorides, Chlorine, Copper, Cryptosporidium, Cyanide, Fluoride, Giardia, Lead, Mercury, Nitrates, Radium, Radon, Silver, Sodium, Sulfide, Trichloroethylene, and Total Trihalomethanes.
Q. Will Kevin RO remove sodium from the water?
YES! Reverse Osmosis was originally designed to make sea water drinkable for the navy. It is ideal for everyone on a low sodium diet.
Q. Does R.O remove Bacteria? Crytosporidium?
YES! An R.O. membrane has a pore size much smaller than bacteria virus, pyrogen or the cryptosporidium parasite. When functioning properly it will remove all micro organism from tap water and produce sterile water.
Q. What is the maintenance schedule for the KEVIN RO water purifier?
The three pre-filter cartridges should be changed every 6 months. The first is a 5 micron sediment cartridge. The second is a Carbon Cartridge. The third is a Executed carbon filter. Failure to change the cartridge every 6 months may allow chlorine to destroy the membrane. Depending upon the water it is treating, the Thin Film Composite membrane has a life expectancy of 3 to 10 years. The post filter should be changed when the membrane needs changing.
Q. What does the KEVIN RO drinking water tastes like?
The Taste of the KEVIN RO water depends on the amount of contaminants in the water originally. If 95% of dissolved minerals and chemicals are removed, the R.O. water may taste like bottled water (low minerals), or natural spring water (moderate mineral content.)
Q. What is Activated Carbon?
Carbon is an extremely porous material that attracts and holds a wide range of harmful contaminants. Activated carbon is carbon which has a slight electro-positive charge added to it, making it even more attractive to chemicals and impurities. As the water passes over the positively charged carbon surface, the negative ions of the contaminants are drawn to the surface of the carbon granules.
Q. What forms does it come in?
Activated carbon filters used for home water treatment typically contain either granular activated carbon (GAC) or powdered block carbon (carbon block).
Q. Which is generally better, GAC or carbon block?
Although both are effective, carbon block filters generally have a higher contaminant removal ratio and are more resistant to channeling.
Q. What is the difference between purified water and bottled mineral water?
A reliable, complete water purifier should give you water that is physically, organically and microbiologically pure. More importantly, it should be such that the water is 100 percent pure at the time of use with no scope for recontamination. Bottled mineral water is unfortunately not purified at point of use. Therefore, there can be a chance of recontamination if stringent quality control measures are not followed. Also, this could prove to be quite expensive if consumed on a regular basis. Further, as there is a proliferation of brands available today, chances of spurious water being available is high
Q. What is ph value of drinking water?
PH (Potential of Hydrogen ion) is a parameter to check whether the water is acidic or alkaline. The pH meter reads from 1 - 14. If the pH is below 6.5, the water is acidic in nature and if above 8.5, it is alkaline (base) in nature. Acidic water is corrosive in nature and causes acidity and other gastric problems. So the drinking water pH should be in between 6.5 to 8.5.
Q. What is silver nano technology in water purification system? How does it work?
Nanotechnology is the emerging material science where we use nano size silver particles (0.000000001meter). Nano particles are very active and have the ability to convert pesticides into harmless amorphous carbon. This conversion is possible only with the help of nano particles. These silver nano particles in our water purifiers have been incorporated with the carbon block with an intention to remove the dangerous pesticides from
Q. How do I know which water purifier I need for my home/ office?
Water treatment is like any other treatment of your health / you first need to know what is wrong with your water before you treat it. Depending upon the water input quality one has to select the right technology to purify the water.
Q. Do you have any water testing facility of your own to test the water? What is the charge?
Yes, we do have the water testing facility of our own in major cities called Aquachek water testing facility. We can do the complete chemical and bacterial test with a nominal fee of Rs 500 plus tax for both chemical and bacteria test. Rs 300 plus tax for chemical or bacteria individually
